Welcome to Barnstaple Youth House!

We are a family of groups working together to help young people. Situated at the heart of this historical market town, we are a youth work charity working together with other youth organisations under the one roof enabling local young people access to different opportunities in the one place.
If you're a young person looking for something to do, we've currently ten different groups offering various activities and clubs. Check out our users and see if any of them suit you. If not then let us know so we can maybe accomodate you in the future.

BYH provides:
Facilities that are safe, warm and attractive to young people.
A wide variety of services and activities including information, guidance and support.
Access for all, including those that are vulnerable or in crisis.
Caring adults, trained, willing and able to help young people make their ideas happen.
Sound management, appropriate policies, procedures, practices and helpful advice to ensure the safety and well being of all users.

The BYH Vision

Our Vision is to create the perception, expectation and reality - from young people and adults alike - that BYH is a fabulous multi-agency base in the town centre, with capable, caring and well qualified staff, where young people can access a wide variety of activities and services and where they can enjoy turning their ideas into action.

The Trustees are now working towards turning the derelict buildings at the rear of the premises into a new Youth House Complex run for young people - by young people, that places young people where they belong... at the heart of their community and at the forefront of local democracy, social and economic prosperity for the future.

BYH News

Congratulations to Sam Newton who gained the position of trainee Youth Worker, thanks to the Rank Foundation. Sam has now started work and is already proving a valuable asset to BYH.

Demolition work on the derelict stables has now been completed and the next stage of our building project is the archaeological dig. We intend a history project of the building, so if anything turns up we can use it towards that. Read more....

The Rank Foundation have granted us five years funding to train a Youth Worker. This is an amazing opportunity for BYH and the local community. Read more....

We are pleased to announce that our building plans for the rear of the premises have been passed by the local planning office. Many thanks to all the people who have helped and contributed to get us to this stage. Read more....

Congratulations to Jane Hooper and her husband Jeremy who won their own restaurant on BBC2's "The Restaurant". Jane has been working at BYH with the Prince's Trust team and has also been a Trustee here for the last couple of years. Good luck Jane and Jeremy! You'll be missed here.
