| The New Build | |||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Situated at the rear of Barnstaple Youth House are some derelict buildings and a courtyard comprising of the old slaughter house to Butchers Row, and some stable blocks. We have recently submitted building plans to the local planning office to allow us to build a major new youth complex allowing many more youth work charities and community organisations to join us and work together in a central location of the town providing the local people with activities and services that they want and need. We've undertaken a large survey of the local youth opinion to find out what they want and the new build will enable us to provide this. Once the building plans have been approved we will be able to apply for funds for the cost of the build and fittings. The plans are available for viewing at the Youth House and if you have an interest in seeing them in full then please contact us. New build progress - update October 2006 BYH is thrilled to have had our planning application approved by the local Planning Office. We are currently awaiting funding towards the cost of demolition for the derelict buildings at the rear. Once complete we will then look towards funding for a major capital build. Funding bids are more likely to succeed if BYH can now identify a number of partner organisations willing to support various applications. We are looking for expressions of interest from community groups, Youth support projects and other local organisations who feel that their aims and objectives would compliment the purposes of the Trust. |
